A successful learner in mathematics involves constructing understanding withexploration, problem solving, discussion and practical experience and evidentially through ateacher who has a clear grasp of the underlying coordinate of the mathematics being taught(Haylock 20103). Analysing my personal journey through mathematics result allow me toexplore if my experiences have influenced my attitudes towards mathematics. Beginning byexploring the ways in which I was taught as a child, examining what mannikin was used forthe teaching of mathematics, earlier continuing to explore if education reforms and learningstrategies could have influenced by experiences. last by reflecting on my attitudetowards mathematics as an adult and trainee teacher, discussing how they ordain affect orinfluence the methods of teaching I will adopt. entryway formal education in 1991 I was taught by means of the rewrite version ofmathematical national curriculum 1991 (DfE 2013b) brought about by the educati onalReform Act 1988.The main two principles of the national curriculum were for the first time to ensureall pupils learn and achieve and secondly to promote pupils spiritual, moral, kindly andcultural development (DES 1987) The basis of therevised curriculum and its associatedtesting was to standardise the sum taught across schools in order to raise standards ofattainment in mathematics.
